John is CEO of Engineers Without Borders UK, a community of change makers with a passion for global responsibility in engineering, and part of a global family of Engineers Without Borders organisations. It launched a Competency Compass for practitioners in June 2023 and a Reimagined Degree Map for university educators in March 2024. John's previous roles include Executive Director at the International Geosynthetics Society, promoting innovative materials and applications for sustainable outcomes in civil engineering, and Director of External Affairs at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), where he conceived of and led the establishment of the World Built Environment Forum.
