Angela Lawlor

Managing Director, Marvelous Manufacturing

Angela is a seasoned professional with a strong track record in manufacturing and process improvement. During her career, she worked for a well known manufacturer on new production line builds and introduced a game-changing initiative to re-use redundant assets from discontinued lines, which saved the business £8M within just 12 months.

When COVID-19 lockdown led to the cancellation of all external contracts, Angela seized the opportunity to explore a new direction.

It was during this time that she discovered a significant issue in UK manufacturing: a severe skills shortage and a gap in young people entering the sector. Through extensive research and conversations with industry professionals, Angela identified a major challenge – manufacturers are too busy to engage with schools, while careers leaders lack the knowledge to teach students about the manufacturing industry.

Driven by her passion to bridge this gap, Angela launched Marvelous Manufacturing, an initiative designed to help manufacturers connect with schools and young people. The goal of Marvelous Manufacturing is to support manufacturers who want to engage with the next generation of talent but don’t have the time or resources to do so, while also helping careers leaders understand the vital role of manufacturing in the UK economy.

With a commitment to closing the skills gap and shaping the future of manufacturing, Angela continues to advocate for greater collaboration between education and industry.
