Alexander Ballisat
Alexander Ballisat is Head of Engineering at The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS). After completing an MSci in Physics at the University of Bristol, Alex worked as a Systems Engineer in the Space Group at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. He then completed his Doctorate in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), researching optimal methods of using numerical models to demonstrate inspection reliability, working in collaboration with DSTL and the MOD with the support of a Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Industrial Fellowship. After this, he joined CFMS, applying his expertise in simulation and NDT to a range of sectors. Alex's research interests are in multi-scale multi-physics simulations, NDT and generalised simulation methodologies for automated requirements-based design and optimisation.
